Music Education

cropped-SacPrep-PhotoAd.png                                                              “Learning to play music with others musicians is what this whole thing is about… creating music together!     It’s art!”

What distinguishes Sac Prep Music Academy apart from other music programs in Sacramento?        “First and foremost: WE ARE A FULL SERVICE MUSIC ACADEMY!”
(We’re not a music store!…we offer Music Education… we don’t sell guitars, keyboards, strings, guitar cables or sound gear!… you can get all that stuff at Klein Music for a great deal and they’re local and we support their small business!)
We teach music in three basic facets: Private Lessons, Group Classes and Ensemble Classes.

Private Music Lessons.

At Sac Prep Music Academy, we teach a lot of private music lessons.  Students come in to the studio once a week and take a 30 or 45 minute private one on one lesson with their teacher… or music coach.  We work on music fundamentals, technique, we teach basic music education that is essential to function as a musician: Rhythm, Pitch, Notes, Sharps & Flats, & Key Signatures. We Teach Music Theory: Chord Structure, Major Chords, Minor Chords, Diminished Chords, Augmented Chords, Seventh Chords, Ninth Chords, eleventh Chords, and Thirteenth Chords (“yikes! What’s a thirteenth?!)  But it’s important to understand that we also study different types of music.

Group Classes.

The Academy teaches a variety of Group Lessons, it’s a cost effective means of talking introductory type lessons, and it’s a fun way to meet other students and gage your progression next to others.  Group lessons are the same length as a Private lesson (45 minutes), but offered in a Group Setting (between 4 & 16 students).  Sac Prep Music Academy offers a variety of classes such as: Guitar Project, Violin Project, Ukulele Project, Veterans Guitar Class, or Hands on Drums, and more!   SIGN UP FOR SPMA GROUP CLASSES.

Ensemble Classes.

SPMA Ensembles are very cool.  We’re happy to announce a semester membership that grants students admission to participate in up to two different SPMA Ensembles.  Ensemble Classes are 90 minute weekly rehearsals, but the goal is that these ensembles become gigging ensembles!  Yes, that’s right! We’d like to see these ensembles become available to perform throughout the City of Sacramento at public events, and give music back to our community.  These are SPMA Community Ensembles: SPMA Guitar Ensemble, SIGN UP FOR SPMA ENSEMBLE MEMBERSHIP.
